A GROWLING GRASS FROG AND A CRACKLE OF COCKATOOS
Draw a frog, make a frog finger puppet, create frog conversations… then head out to the wetlands to investigate our very own frog pond!
Join author and frog scientist Teisha Sloane-Lay and scientist and illustrator Katie Howard for a fun, hands-on morning inspired by their book Litoria and Her Wetland Friends.
There’ll be:
- A reading of Litoria and Her Wetland Friends
- Learn how to draw a frog with illustrator Katie
- Make your own frog finger puppet
- Get your frogs talking – and making frog noises!
- Head out to the wetlands to investigate our frog pond
- Explore pond water and discover whether our wetlands are a safe home for frogs
And for children who find sitting still a challenge, we’ll also have a nature fidget tray available.
Talk like a cockatoo, walk like a cockatoo and head off on a treasure hunt to discover what cockatoos are up to in the wetlands!
Join Yea writer and wetlands volunteer Christopher Brennan for a fun, interactive adventure inspired by his book Carl the Cockatoo and the Magic Seed Bell. What is Carl the Cockatoo up to now?
There’ll be:

- Talk like a cockatoo and walk like a cockatoo!
- Discover what cockatoos need to thrive
- Set off on a treasure hunt through the wetlands
- Look and listen for evidence of cockatoos
- Colouring activities for children who prefer to stay indoors
And for children who find sitting still a challenge, we’ll also have a nature fidget tray available.
